Damaged Tree

Beautiful detail - Trees seem to suffer this damage well, though, don't they!
Beverly Andrighetti: There are dead limbs, Elizabeth, so I'm not sure if the damage done by whatever made the holes is just too far advanced to save the tree.

Love the silvery texture of it all Bev
Beverly Andrighetti: Thank you, Chris. It must have been a nice looking tree before it was attacked.
OUCH! My guess is it has totally repaired itself, which is something I wish we all could do! Well done, Beverly.
Beverly Andrighetti: I'm not so sure it is that healthy as I'm afraid there are too many dead limbs. This tree is one of many in the backyard of my daughter's newly purchased house, Ginnie, and unless a tree doctor can save it, it will be coming down.

Excellent shot and presentation. Must have been a tree borer with a woodpecker after it.
Beverly Andrighetti: That sounds like a very plausible explanation, Louis. Thank you.
Woodpecker holes perhaps but could be insects too.
Beverly Andrighetti: Those were two of the things we thought it might be, Mary.
Wood wasps perhaps?
Beverly Andrighetti: Could very well be, Bill.

Perhaps they were bored after the limb died, Beverly
Beverly Andrighetti: That's another possibility, Lisl.

Dead wood is very attractive. I assume that those holes are made by some beetles??
Love the silver glare of the wood. Birch??
Beverly Andrighetti: I'm not sure what kind of tree it is, Astrid, but there are several birches in the yard. This one looks a bit different.
Truly beautiful!
Beverly Andrighetti: Many thanks, Tom.
wow how creative Beverly..
Beverly Andrighetti: Thank you very much, Ronky. Unfortunately, we think the tree is too far gone to save.
I like this Beverly, almost, but not quite, an abstract.
Beverly Andrighetti: Yes, you can clearly see that it is a tree trunk, Brian.

Machine gun damage Bev?
Beverly Andrighetti: Hahaha...Oh! I hope not, Chad. Hate to think this quiet neighbourhood is harbouring gun-toting folks out to destroy their neighbours' trees.

Sometimes you can see the tree weeping. An interesting close-up of the bark of the tree - what kind of tree?
Beverly Andrighetti: I'm sorry I don't know what kind of tree it is, Philine, but there are several birches in the yard and although this one looks a bit different I suppose it could be from the same family.
This is a gem Beverly! I love the textures.
Beverly Andrighetti: Thank you so much for your kind comment, Richard.
